Within the new meteorological bureau of the Upper Air Observatory, the interiors brief called for an inter-operability between the critical functions of management, research and operations within a contemporary workplace. The various facilities within the bureau include lecture theatre, resource centre, data storage, offices, meeting rooms, monitoring stations et al.
Over 3 levels, including the operations room for launching weather balloons, the layout addressed the specific functions of each division and their inter-relationships. Furniture and soft furnishings were selected to reflect the contemporary nature of the facility with its exposed concrete walls and columns, vast expanses of glass and research equipment. All products were Green Mark compliant contributing to an eco-friendly, sustainable workplace environment.
